Noamas Čiomskis

Noamas Čiomskis (Noam Chomsky, 1928 m. gruodžio 7 d.) – amerikiečių lingvistas ir politinis aktyvistas. Dėsto MIT, Lingvistikos ir filosofijos departamente. JAV Mokslo akademijos narys.

Mokslinė veikla

Pagarsėjo, sukūręs generatyvinę gramatiką bei eksperimentiškai pademonstravęs tam tikrus įgimtus žmonių kalbinius sugebėjimus (tipinės sakinių konstrukcijos, sudaromos kalbėti besimokančių vaikų). N. Chomsky darbai padarė didelę įtaką psichologijai, ypač – sugriaunant klasikinę Burrhus Frederic Skinner biheviorizmo teoriją. Generatyvinė gramatika ir įvairios Chomsky sukurtos formalios gramatikos, bei Chomsky gramatikų hierarchija yra tapę itin svarbiomis, sparčiai besivystančiomis kalbotyros sritimis, darančiomis stiprią įtaką psichologiniams, matematiniams (metakalbos) ir kompiuterių mokslo (leksinių ir sintaksinių analizatorių) tyrimams.

Politinė veikla

Vakarų šalyse Noam Chomsky plačiai žinomas dėl savo kontroversiškų politinių pažiūrų, kraštutinai radikalios JAV politikos kritikos bei reguliarių pasisakymų, bandančių teisinti visus su JAV konfliktuojančius režimus ir politines jėgas, pvz., al Kaida, Raudonieji khmerai Chomskio manymu, ėmėsi teroro tik kaip atsako į imperialistinius JAV veiksmus.
